As part of the Library's celebration of Black History Month, award-winning director Stephen Nachamie takes a closer look at African American voices on the Broadway Musical Stage. Mr. Nachamie will explore and celebrate a brief history of Broadway Musicals created by African American composers such as Eubie Blake, who wrote Shuffle Along to other African American creators of such shows as The Wiz, with music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls, as well as contemporary musicals including Passing Strange and The Color Purple.
