Event Details

Parisian sewer worker Chico (Charles Farrell) saves the life of mistreated waif Diane (Academy Award winner Janet Gaynor), and the pair slowly fall in love -- until World War I intervenes. This moving drama also earned Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Art Direction (Harry Oliver), and won for Benjamin Glazer's screenplay (based on Austin Strong's play) and Frank Borzage's direction. Tonight’s screening will be be introduced by film scholar Philip Harwood, and pianist Ben Model will supply live accompaniment.
